The main purpose of the Family Ministry Team is to develop ways in which the "family", whether it be the biological family, the church family or the community family, will be supported and grow in their faith.
Ways in which we provide these are:
Spiritual Growth
We post a daily "Thought for the Day" on Trinity's facebook page (search Trinity Lutheran, Versailles, OH).
Ladies group "GIGGLES" (Girls In God Growing Learning Eating Sharing) began in 2013 and meets on the last Monday evening of the month (check the calendar). For more information, contact Kim Klipstine at 937-459-6846.
Men's Group meets on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 7:00 p.m. at Brad Holzapfel's barn. Contact A.J. Magoto for more information at 937-564-8320.
Helping Others
We open our building for bathroom use during the Poultry Days Parade set up and Trick or Treat Day.
We participate in the Back Pack Program for Darke County.
Milestone Recognition
For baptisms, our committee gives a "Memory Box" to store all your keepsakes during your faith's journey.
For First Communion, we give each one a Bible and a remembrance glass communion cup.
For Confirmation, we give each one a crocheted blanket and a cross with their name and Jeremiah 29:11 written on it.
For Graduation, the high school graduates receive a card and a Devotional Book. The college graduates receive and pen and pencil set with Jeremiah 29:11 engraved on it.
Each year before school starts we have a "Blessing of the Backpacks."
Social Events
Each November, we rotate each year by having either a Tailgate Party or a Barn Party.
Other events or activities are organized throughout the year. In 2021, we began a "Christmas in July" event which continues in 2025.
We work with Worship and Music to organize Rally Day, the second Sunday of September.
Back Pack
The mission of the Back Pack Program is to meet the needs of hungry children by providing them with nutritious and easy-to-prepare food to take home on weekends when other resources are not available. One in five children in Ohio live in poverty and struggle with hunger. Every weekend the children go without things that other children have. Food shouldn’t be one of them!!!
Grace Resurrection in Greenville is the organizer of this program and the central location for Darke County. The Shared Harvest Food Bank in Fairfield, Ohio is the supplier. They deliver the non-perishable food to Greenville once a month for grades K-4 during the school year.
Our responsibility at Trinity is to use “Our Hands to do God’s Work” on this outreach ministry. We have someone pick up each months food supply in Greenville and bring it back to Trinity. We then pack the food for each week's delivery.
Every Friday, we deliver the packages of food to the Versailles Elementary School.
When the food is delivered to the school, a designated person from the school will deliver the sacks of food to the classroom where teachers will confidentially slip the bags of food into the students’ backpacks.
Trinity went one step further and decided that the children who received the school back pack food needed food throughout the summer as well. During the summer of 2014, we began purchasing and packing a grocery bag full of food to tide them over for the week. In the summer of 2021, we still continue this ministry.
Care Ministry
We want our 80 year old and older members to feel appreciated and cared for! They have given great service to God and to Trinity for many years. This ministry will make them feel loved and appreciated! They have been teamed up with members of Trinity as a Care Partner. The Care Partner will send cards, gifts and make visits and phone calls periodically throughout the year.
Meals are provided to families who recently had a baby.
A meal is provided for families after funeral services of Trinity members and friends grieving the death of a loved one.
GIGGLES
Ladies group "GIGGLES" (Girls In God Growing Learning Eating Sharing) began in 2013. This is a woman's fellowship group focuses their meetings on outreach projects, having a snack and having lots of laughs. This group meets once a month. Occasionally, they take road trips to the lake or Shipshewana.
During the year 2017, the group has taken on an outreach project in cooperation with the 500th Anniversary of the 500th Reformation. The group is making baby quilts for Darke County Pregnancy Center and Rustic Hope. Their hope was to make 95 (like the thesis that Martin Luther nailed on the church doors in Wittenberg, German in 1517) however, they made over 400 and are still making them! All ladies are welcome to join in the group at any time.
During the Covid-19 Pandemic during 2020, our Giggles group of ladies made approximately 1500 facemasks that were distributed to our members, friends, Spirit Transport, Nursing Homes and other first responders.
